When the holiday season arrives, Walt Disney World Resort transforms into a glittering celebration of joy, wonder, and timeless magic. Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for a cherished tradition, spending the holidays at Disney offers an unforgettable way to celebrate the season with loved ones.

From the moment you enter the gates, you’re greeted with twinkling lights, festive music, and the comforting scents of gingerbread and cinnamon wafting through the air. Each of the four parks—Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom—brings its own holiday flair, with dazzling décor, themed entertainment, and exclusive seasonal offerings that make this time of year truly special.

Imagine snow falling gently on Main Street, U.S.A., carolers singing by the towering tree at Echo Lake, and Mickey and Minnie dressed in their holiday finest as they lead parades filled with cheer. Around every corner is a moment of magic, perfect for memory-making and capturing the spirit of the season. Whether you're looking to take in the sights, enjoy festive treats from around the world, or be swept away by the music and storytelling of traditional holiday shows, Disney during the holidays offers something for everyone—families, couples, solo travelers, and multi-generational groups alike.

Throughout the resort, each park is decked out in its own unique way. Magic Kingdom captures the classic holiday spirit with garlands and ornaments strung across Main Street and Cinderella Castle shimmering in festive lights. PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout the park, especially near the most iconic backdrops, so you can preserve those picture-perfect moments early in the day when everyone is still fresh and full of energy.

At Hollywood Studios, you'll find charming, vintage holiday décor with oversized ornaments floating on Echo Lake and colorful lights wrapped around palm trees. Toy Story Land also gets into the spirit, as Andy’s backyard is adorned with giant candy canes, tinsel, and even characters dressed in holiday outfits. Animal Kingdom takes a more artistic approach with whimsical, handcrafted winter animal puppets greeting guests near the Tree of Life. In DinoLand U.S.A., a playful dinosaur-themed holiday carnival comes to life, complete with festive décor and seasonal character appearances.

EPCOT offers a more global celebration through the International Festival of the Holidays. This event allows guests to sample traditional holiday dishes from cultures around the world while enjoying seasonal entertainment. One of the highlights of the festival is the Holiday Cookie Stroll, which invites guests to try unique cookie creations at different booths and collect stamps along the way for a special treat.

Several special holiday events enhance the festive atmosphere even more. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, held on select nights at Magic Kingdom, is a separately ticketed evening event filled with holiday cheer. Guests can enjoy exclusive character meet-and-greets, a themed holiday parade, snowfall on Main Street, seasonal treats like complimentary cookies and cocoa, and a spectacular fireworks show synchronized to holiday music. Characters including Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws, along with Mickey and Minnie in their holiday best, make this a fan-favorite tradition.

Over at EPCOT, the Candlelight Processional brings the true meaning of the season to life through a stirring retelling of the Christmas story. A celebrity narrator joins a full orchestra and choir to deliver a performance that’s both emotional and awe-inspiring. It’s a beautiful way to slow down and reflect amid the excitement of the parks. Hollywood Studios adds its own unique touch with Sunset Seasons Greetings, a nightly show that transforms the Hollywood Tower Hotel using projection mapping. Beloved characters like the Muppets, Toy Story friends, and Mickey and Minnie appear in animated holiday scenes that light up the evening.

While the holidays bring unique offerings, all the classic Disney attractions are still available to enjoy. At Magic Kingdom, guests can still ride fan-favorite attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Some attractions, such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, may be under refurbishment during the 2025 holiday season, so it’s best to check ahead. At Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run offer thrilling, immersive adventures. Toy Story Land also features festive overlays that extend the holiday feeling to attractions like Alien Swirling Saucers. EPCOT’s slower-paced experiences like Living with the Land are especially magical with their holiday lighting and seasonal decorations.

Of course, no holiday visit is complete without enjoying seasonal treats and shopping for magical keepsakes. Throughout all four parks, you’ll find a wide selection of limited-time holiday treats, from peppermint churros to gingerbread cupcakes, festive cookies, and warm drinks. At EPCOT, the holiday kitchens serve up authentic seasonal dishes from around the world, offering a delicious way to learn about other cultures while celebrating the season. Exclusive holiday merchandise is also available resort-wide, including festive Mickey ears, holiday-themed spirit jerseys, unique ornaments, and perfect stocking stuffers.

If you're planning a holiday trip to Disney, a few helpful tips can make your experience even more magical. Book everything early—hotels, park tickets, and dining reservations tend to fill up quickly during this popular time of year. Staying at a Disney Resort Collection hotel gives you convenient access to the parks, early entry perks, and an extra dose of magic thanks to festive in-lobby decorations and themed activities. It’s also a great idea to arrive at the parks at opening, often referred to as “rope drop,” to take advantage of lighter crowds and shorter wait times. For capturing memories, be sure to use Disney’s PhotoPass service or consider booking a private Capture Your Moment session to ensure everyone is in the picture during this special time of year.

Visiting Disney World during the holidays promises a one-of-a-kind blend of beloved attractions and festive enchantment. Whether you’re dancing through holiday parades, savoring warm treats under sparkling lights, or meeting your favorite characters dressed in their seasonal best, you’re sure to create joyful memories that last a lifetime. It’s no wonder so many guests return year after year—there’s simply nothing like the holidays at Walt Disney World.
